Freedom of Information Request to the HSE Regarding Fire Exit Signs (Response Date: 23rd December 2014)

In response to a freedom of information request to the HSE, the HSE has clarified what the current Fire Exit Sign should look like as at 23rd December 2014.

The legislation in the UK is the Safety Signs and Signals Regulations (SSSR) 1996

This legislation has not changed in relation to Fire Exit Signs between 1996 and 23rd December 2014.

In a previous Freedom of Information Act request the answer was:
"We are not aware of any changes in law as regards Fire Exit Signs"

The response from the HSE included a sheet which is shown on this page.

Question about Past Prosecutions in relation to Fire Exit Signs (No Historic Prosecutions Re: Fire Exit Pictograms)

Answer: I am unable to answer question 4 or 5 since the prosecutions you describe would not necessarily
be prosecuted either by HSE or under the Safety Signs and Signals Regulations.

I have examined our database of prosecutions and notices. (ref provided) and have been unable to identify
any action taken under the Safety Signs and Signals Regulations.
